The Value of Exercise

Exercise is the drug free wonder treatment and preventative for many 21st century health problems. If it could be bottled, the manufacturer would be an instant billionaire. So why do people wait for illness to be their motivation to exercise? Why are the benefits of exercise not enough of an incentive to get people moving? Exercise does take time and effort, but the rewards far outweigh the costs.

Weight loss is only one of these rewards so, if you do not lose weight straightaway, consider the other benefits before you decide that too much effort is required to achieve the results you desire. For some very common illnesses, exercise remains the most effective and readily available form of treatment. Here are some of the conditions that can be greatly alleviated by exercise: ~High blood pressure: regular, effective exercise will lower blood pressure. ~Insulin resistance: exercise makes insulin more effective and can help to improve diabetes and polycystic ovaries. ~High cholesterol: regular, effective exercise increases the body's levels of HDL, the "good" cholesterol that removes those cholesterol plaques from your bloodstream that can cause clogged arteries.
